Sound a Trumpet, Not an Alarm

By Cathy Irvin
Staff Writer

CBN.com Here we are at the 1-year anniversary of that tragic day on 9/11/01. We have begun to rehearse that familiar day. People are anticipating something happening again. They remember the chaos, the loss of lives and the horror of it all. Once again FEAR has raised its ugly head.

I have read stories and poems that ring an alarming sound. They seem to say we have no hope. What will we do? When will it end? I want to SHOUT and say "Let's not focus our expectations on our fears, but let us look to God. Matthew 24:6-8 tells us not to be alarmed. There have been wars, there will be rumors of them and there will be wars, but the end is still to come.

This is not the end, perhaps it is the beginning before the end. We do need to sound an alarm, more like "Everyone man your battle stations. We will not be defeated." It should be a call to PRAYER, putting on our spiritual weapons to fight the demonic forces that want to torment our minds. These evil spirits are principalities and rulers of darkness that want us to doubt the integrity of our leaders. They want us to feel there is no hope and that we can't possibly win. They are shouting the wrong sound. That Alarm is FEAR. That is what will cripple us as a nation. We must have HOPE and FAITH as our weapons.

"The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds" (II Corinthian 10:4).

We are in a war, it is spiritual and yes it will be in the natural, but God is on our side and Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the world. (I John 4:4) We must put our trust in God, pray, exercise our faith and by sounding a trumpet of hope in the days ahead, we will be proclaiming a sound of Victory, not an alarming sound of Fear.
