Turkey will now allow Kurds from Iraq to go to Syria and support fellow Kurds in defending the key border town of Kobani from ISIS fighters.

The Kurdish foreign minister made that announcement just hours after the U.S. said it had airdropped weapons, ammunition and medical supplies to Kurdish forces in Kobani.

Secretary of State John Kerry said it would have been irresponsible for the U.S. not to support the Kurds at this key point in the battle for control of Kobani.

The fight for the town has become a key battle between the American coalition and ISIS, with many critics, including those in Turkey, saying the U.S. hasn't done enough.
